Even though the game’s name sounds like a blase statement, it’s actually an apt description of what the game’s about. Essentially, as long as it floats, you can use it in-game as a boat. This isn’t the most popular experience on Roblox.
It’s difficult to pin down the core mechanic of Whatever Floats your Boat is. However, the game has a heavy focus on both PvP battles and construction. If you’re looking for a good PvP with a fun gimmick and good graphics, try Prison Showdown. If the construction aspect appeals more to you, then you’d likely do well with Lumber Tycoon 2.
Build a boat
Essentially, your primary objective is to build a boat and have it survive in a PvP death match with other players and their boats. You’ll start with a rather questionable-looking raft, to which you can add various bits and pieces. However, the most important part of your boat will be the cannon. Yes, a raft with a cannon.
That’s what you start with. You’ll have a few minutes to make adjustments to your boat with the amount of money you have - which at the beginning of the game, isn’t enough to make any kind of seaworthy vessel that will hold up to cannon fire.
Fire away
The next part of the game is the actual combat. Here, you’ll be teleported into the water, where you’ll need to survive against other players and their incredible boats. The reality is that you’ll be playing against more experienced players with more money and bigger boats. Your battle raft should be okay if you don’t get hit. Should you get hit with a cannonball, your raft will begin to break and sink; given that it's essentially constructed out of pallets, this does make sense.
Command and conquer
With enough time and practice, you’ll develop the skills and amass the capital to build more elaborate ships that can actually take a punch. The more matches you win, the more formidable you and your ship can become.
Keep in mind that you’re not bound to your ship, and if you need to board someone else’s to carry out an assault, that’s perfectly acceptable. Just be warned that other players will do the same. All in all, Whatever Floats your Boat is an incredibly fun and inventive game.
